Multidisciplinary artist Anroo pays tribute to the Land of the Gods with this thought-provoking exhibit. Drawing inspiration from her eco-conscious life and Bali’s natural resources, Anroo cleverly combines a playful edge with earthy materials in her paintings. An exploration of texture, dimension and materials, these paintings feature various patterns – ranging from circles, lines and geometric elements. Earth-toned colours, raw materials and a sense of abstract are all prominent features in Anroo’s work.

This exhibition shows you a different take on displaying a painting. The idea is that this artwork is not restricted by the “normal” canvas, allowing for a mindfulness and personalisation.

Anroo’s process starts from harvesting the bones of each painting canvas from her very own garden. Mature bamboo is cut and cured in the sun to prevent moulding, then shaped into the frame of the artwork. She carefully trims the bamboo to ensure there is no harm to the tree. Canvas fabric is selected as either bi-product from other project or new, ensuring that the process of cut and sew would have the most minimize waste. This incorporate her value of creating art with zero / less waste in every piece.

With no piece identical , “Knot Just a Painting” explores what it means to stay curious . Being inspired by our surroundings, always learning and experimenting is an important value to hold.
